About the Workshop
Working within the traditional Nine-Patch format stitch a visual story by utilizing nine photographs on a theme of your choosing (memorable trips, garden flowers, cherished
collections, beautiful sunsets, favorite pets . . . ). You'll learn how to ink jet print images directly onto fabric to construct a small fabric artwork incorporating hand embroidery with fabrics, threads & more. In a relaxing environment you’ll have the opportunity to learn (or reacquaint yourself) with “the joy of putting needle and thread to cloth.”
About Maude May
I am a collage artist – layering images utilizing hand stitching and photography. I utilize discarded snapshots, copyright-free Library of Congress photos, scans of my own photographic art and more. Images are ink jet printed directly onto either linen or cotton and, then along with both used and new fabrics, are assembled to tell a new visual story. Layers of hand & machine stitching bind everything together (both literally and figuratively).
