About the Workshop
Using oil or acrylic paints, the class will explore the many approaches to brush handling and how the application of brush to canvas and or gessoed paper can make or break a painting. Students should bring a wide assortment of brush sizes.
About Sandy Roumagoux
I have been painting for 50 years. I use oil mostly, but acrylics
when drying time is a factor. Using the brush to apply the paint is
a technique I have studied for years. My subject matter is based
on scenes in and around marine environments. During my last
two years I have been paintings the tidal flats, estuaries,
backwaters around Lincoln Co. Oregon. This summer I was
awarded an Artist Residency appointment at the Gladys Valley
Marine Studies Bldg. on the Hatfield Marine Science Center,
Oregon State University, in Newport, OR. This month long
residency allowed me to complete 8 paintings plus talk about the
interaction between art and science with visitors and researchers.
