About the Workshop
Student will learn the art of carving molds into cuttlebones, pouring molten silver, and applying finishing techniques to create beautiful jewelry? In this workshop, we will cover basic metalsmithing skills to incorporate your cast pieces into finished jewelry. ​
About Junko Iijima
Junko is a studio artist living in North Portland. She came to the United States from Japan as a high school exchange student. Fascinated by the diversity of people and cultures, she continued her studies in the U.S. and completed her master's degree in Metalsmithing at the University of Oregon. Her work explores the blending of cultural elements from both the United States and Japan. Having lived in the U.S. for 35 years, Junko has witnessed these two cultures coming closer together through their people and the exchange of commodities. In addition to her artistic practice, she teaches Metalsmithing at Clackamas Community College and Multnomah Art Center

Instructor will provide:
I will bring all of the tools you need to complete your work during the camp. I will provide cuttlefish bones, carving tools, some silver and bronze for casting, some copper and brass sheets and wires.
What students should bring:
