About the Workshop
This unconventional collage class will teach students to aggressively explore successful methods of creating collage while developing their personal artistic voices. The class will emphasize creativity, experimentation, risk and accident, with the belief that they are important elements in creating art. The starting point for each lesson will be flat paper based materials (such as magazines, books, etc.), students bring with them and/or find in the resources that will be provided for the class. In class demonstrations a wide variety of both conventional and unconventional collage methods will be explored. Students will be encouraged to push their collage to new intellectual and aesthetic levels through individual projects. Constructive critical discussion with the instructor and group critiques will aid in the students artistic growth.
