Find Your Own Imagery - Acrylic on Wood
Instructor: Alison O'Donoghue
Create acrylic paintings on wood that are all your own! Through imagery creating exercises, generate ideas and content that reference your life and are meaningful to you. With a step by step process, you will find that composing and painting your creation is doable, enjoyable and rewarding.
Practice letting go of conventional structures, reference material, traditional ideas of realism pertaining to imagery, gravity, perspective, proportion, size relationships, etc. Allow the unexpected and intuitive to infuse your work.
Big Mprov (Improvisation Workshop)
Instructor: Holly Hurley Feather
Find and ignite the star within! This week-long improv workshop will teach you how to find your BigM(e) and take the stage. You’ll learn the foundations of building a character, creating a mood, and performing with other players.
Painting with Expression
Instructor: Jolyn Fry
This acrylic painting workshop will support you as you learn to lean into painting with movement, color, and expression. It’s about how to find joy in your painting practice beyond the method of getting it right. We will explore daily exercises of letting go with paint. As creative learners, we can often hesitate and analyze at the moment where we most need to leap. This week will be a guidebook on how to gently take that leap.
Paint with Clay:
Hand Building and Decorating with Slip
Instructor: Kim Murton
Explore traditional and non traditional techniques - paper stencils, slip transfers, sgraffito, Mishima, sprigging and layering colors for a painterly surface to hand built pieces.
Abstract Drawing & Painting and the Creative Process
Instructor: Lauren Ohlgren
Create abstract imagery inspired by Menucha’s natural environment through guided prompts and experimental methods.
Stitch a Story: Create a Small Nine-Patch Quilt
Instructor: Maude May
Working within the traditional Nine-Patch format stitch a visual story by utilizing nine photographs on a theme of your choosing (memorable trips, garden flowers, cherished collections, beautiful sunsets, favorite pets . . . ). You'll learn how to ink jet print images directly onto fabric to construct a small fabric artwork incorporating hand embroidery with fabrics, threads & more. In a relaxing environment you’ll have the opportunity to learn (or reacquaint yourself) with “the joy of putting needle and thread to cloth.”
Open Studio - Paint and More Paint
Instructor: Sandy Roumagoux
Students are encouraged to bring paintings that need to be “overhauled”, work in progress, ideas to start a series, or any ideas they would like to translate into paint.
Figure Drawing from the Inside Out
Instructor: Trish Harding
Whether you are a beginning or returning student, come learn to draw what you see...not what you think you see! Using clothed models, artist Trish Harding will guide you in learning the elements of gesture, shape, value, and more, which will infuse your drawings with dynamism and drama. We will cover using gesture, shape, & value and the deeper meaning of drawing to make it more logical and understandable so that everyone will succeed and become a better figure drawer than ever thought possible!
