MASK MAKING

WEEK 1 AUG 3 - 9

Diane has been a Mask Maker for 28 years.
She creates masks for stage productions most recently Portland Opera's "Faust" and "The Servant of Two Masters" for the College of Marin in San Francisco. She is the owner of Illusionary Designs since 1984, an on-line mask store.

For the last 15 years she has been part of the "Street of Mask Makers" in New Orleans at Mardi Gras. Diane's work can be seen on her website and at "Maskarade", a mask store in New Orleans."

Diane says "I love making masks and teaching others to enjoy this wonderful creative art, whether it's for the stage or dancing in the streets at Mardi Gras time."

This class will guide the students in making a wearable piece or art.

Students start by casting the face, and work through the entire mask making process. This includes: casting, working through the design, clay sculpture, paper maché and finishing. By the end of this week long class the student will have acquired a working knowledge of the mask making process.
